ABSTRACT:
According to the present invention, there is provided a process for preparing pyrazines characterized in that a diol represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon radical, and a diamine represented by the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon radical, are subjected to a gas phase contact reaction in the presence of a zinc-containing catalyst.
