ABSTRACT:
Preparation of dihydroxy-.alpha.-alkylstilbenes with reduced undesirable by-products can be achieved by carrying out dehydrohalogenation of a substantially uniform dispersion of a halogenated intermediate of the desired product in the presence of water and a polar protic solvent.
