ABSTRACT:
The present invention is a polyolefin resin coated paper base having a backing layer. The backing layer is formed by coating and subsequent drying of a coating composition having dispersed therein colloidal inorganic oxide particles, an antistatic agent and a film forming binder. The film forming binder is a carboxylic acid containing vinyl polymer or copolymer having a glass transition temperature greater than 25.degree. C. and an acid number of from 30 to 260 wherein the carboxylic acid containing vinyl polymer or copolymer is reacted with ammonia or amine so that the coating composition has a pH of from 7 to 10.
