ABSTRACT:
A system and method for the wireless transmission of information signals between a base station and a plurality of subscriber stations. The method may include a base station receiving an information signal from trunk lines for processing for transmission over a RF link to a predetermined receive unit capable of receiving and processing the information signal, processing the information signal by assigning pathing for processing the information signal to be transmitted over a RF link to the predetermined receive unit, sampling in a predetermined manner the information signal being processed according to pathing assigned to produce signal samples representative of the information signal, compressing the signal samples such that the signal samples may be reconstructed at the predetermined receive unit to substantially provide the same information as the information signal provided before being processing, with the compression step resulting in a selective deletion of predetermined portions of the signal samples such that there will be substantially non-degraded, reconstructed signal samples, and placing the compressed signal samples representative of the information signal in predetermined, discrete positions of repeating segments of a transmit signal channel, and transmitting over a RF link to the predetermined receive unit the portion of each segment of the transmit signal channel containing the compressed signal samples representative of the information signal.
