ABSTRACT:
A flood detection means for use with a solenoid expansion valve in a refrigeration system is disclosed. The flood detection means responds to the temperature differential across the evaporator coil for throttling down the flow rate through the expansion valve when the temperature differential is less than a temperature threshold. When the temperature differential is greater than the threshold, the valve resumes normal operations from the throttled down condition.
