ABSTRACT:
An improved ethylene oxychlorination process wherein the unreacted ethylene in the process off-gas is dried and reacted with chlorine in the presence of a non-reactive liquid to form ethylene dichloride, (1,2-dichloroethane) recovering the ethylene dichloride. The improved process includes a method for drying the gas by contact with ethylene dichloride.
