ABSTRACT:
Disclosed is a novel silver halide photographic material which comprises at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer on a support. The light-sensitive layer or another hydrophilic colloidal layer contains a compound represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR1## wherein X represents a hydroxy, amino or sulfonamide group; A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkylsulfonyl group, an arylsulfonyl group or an acyl group, with the proviso that at least one of A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom; G.sub.1 represents --CO--, --COCO--, --CS--, --C(.dbd.NG.sub.2 R.sub.3)--, --SO--, --SO.sub.2 -- or --P(O)(G.sub.2 R.sub.3)--; G.sub.2 represents a mere bond, --O--, --S-- or --N(R.sub.3)--; R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, an amino group, a sulfonamide group, a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy group or an alkyl group; L represents a divalent linking group; n represents an integer 0 or 1; R.sub.2 represents an aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic group; Time represents a divalent linking group; t represents an integer 0 or 1; R.sub.3 represents a hydrogen atom or a group recited in the definition of R.sub.2 ; and PUG represents a photographically useful group. A second silver halide emulsion or another hydrophilic colloid layer adjacent thereto contains a nucleating agent.
