ABSTRACT:
A method for making bileaflet heart valve prostheses wherein leaflets with unacceptably rough leading edges are identified during production. The leaflet leading edge surfaces are subjected to optical surface profilometry so that leaflets with undesirable rough leading edge surfaces may be identified and eliminated from production or reprocessed. The leaflet leading edge is also provided with a domed contour that allows the surface of the bevel to be polished adequately.
