ABSTRACT:
Herbicidally effective diphenyl ether compounds of the formula: ##STR1## where, for example, X is a halogen atom or a nitro group, R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or a chlorine, bromine or iodine atom, and R.sup.2 is a group --OR.sup.3 wherein R.sup.3 is an alkyl group containing from 1 to 12 carbon atoms.
