ABSTRACT:
A method is disclosed for deprotonating a compound comprising treating the compound with a base of the general formula: ##STR1## in the presence of a nitrile solvent; wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are each individually H, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.15)alkyl, (C.sub.6 -C.sub.9)aryl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkyl(C.sub.6 -C.sub.9)aryl, ((C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkyl).sub.3 Si, or (C.sub.6 -C.sub.9)aryl(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkyl.
