ABSTRACT:
A semiconductor integrated circuit used at a dropped external power voltage, comprises a voltage dropping circuit for receiving an external power voltage V.sub.CC and generating an internal power voltage V.sub.DD, a voltage comparison circuit for detecting the level of the internal power voltage V.sub.DD and controlling the operation of the power voltage dropping circuit based on the detected result, a switch circuit operating when the level of the internal power voltage V.sub.DD decreases, to forcibly generate the internal power voltage V.sub.DD from the external power voltage V.sub.CC, and a control circuit for activating the switch circuit.
