ABSTRACT:
A process is disclosed for the separation of a mixture of an optically active .alpha.-phenylglycine amide and the corresponding optically active .alpha.-phenylglycine acid, through the formation of a novel Schiff base of at least the amide, and achieving the separation with the resulting solubility differences while substantially completely avoiding racemization.
