ABSTRACT:
Disclosed is a process for the preparation of [otho]ortho-hydrocarbylthio)-phenols, having at least one hydrogen on a carbon atom ortho to a hydroxy group, with hydrocarbyl disulfides in the presence of catalytic amounts of aluminum phenoxide.
