ABSTRACT:
A data processor which allows multi-functional instruction execution has an instruction decoding unit and an instruction executing unit. The instruction decoding unit divides the multi-functional instruction into multiple internal codes. The instruction executing unit takes the internal codes from the instruction decoding unit and executes them. The instruction decoding unit and the instruction executing unit are pipelined so that the instruction decoding unit outputs a first internal code in a first cycle, and a second internal code in a second cycle. The instruction executing unit executes the first internal code in the second cycle and the second internal code in a third cycle.
