ABSTRACT:
Halogenated bisphenols, such as 4,4'-isopropylidene-bis(2,6-dibromophenol), can be produced in high purity and high yield by brominating in 75-95 weight per cent aqueous acetic acid, and subsequently heating the reaction mass at 80.degree. - 120.degree. C. for 5-60 minutes. The resultant mixture can be neutralized prior to separating desired product from the reaction mixture.
