ABSTRACT:
Compositions which contain an agonist substance of one or a number of receptors associated with a chlorine channel are useful for slackening and/or relaxing cutaneous tissue, and in particular for the purpose of treating wrinkles and fine lines of the skin. Such compositions can be administered topically or by injection. Preferred agonists include glycine, serine, taurine, .beta.-alanine, N-(benzyloxycarbonyl)glycine (Z-glycine), gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), isoguvacine, isonipecotic steroids, and barbiturates. The composition can additionally contain a retinoid and/or a hydroxy acid.
