ABSTRACT:
High melting ethylene-carbon monoxide copolymers are prepared by copolymerizing ethylene and carbon monoxide at relatively low temperatures and pressures using a peroxy ester of an organic acid having a ten hour half-life temperature of about 60.degree. C. or less, when determined in a 0.2 M solution in benzene, as catalyst. The preferred catalyst is t-butyl peroxypivalate. The reaction is preferably carried out in the presence of dioxane as solvent and t-butyl peroxypivalate as catalyst.
