A process for the dyeing or finishing of textile material of natural or synthetic fibres comprises applying to the material a liquor containing the dye or fixing chemical followed by subjecting the material, at substantially room temperature, to air enriched with halogenated hydrocarbon having a boiling point lower than 85.degree. C.
