ABSTRACT:
Synthetic resin particles having a hydrogen bond forming group are swollen, at least one metallic compound capable of forming a hydrogen bond is introduced into the synthetic resin particles, and the metallic compound is hydrolyzed and condensed within the synthetic resin particles and on and in the vicinity of the surface of the synthetic resin particles. An inorganic component is grown by this reaction, and at least part of the grown inorganic component 3 is fixed through a reaction with a hydrogen bond forming group present within the synthetic resin particles 1 and on and in the vicinity of the surface of the synthetic resin particles 1 to prepare a coating composition. The coating composition is coated on the surface of a substrate, and the resulting coating is dried at a temperature of the lowest film forming temperature or above to form a coating.
