Disclosed are methods for improving feed utilization efficiency of ruminents and for improving lactation of lactating ruminants. The methods involve administering certain tetraamide compounds such as 2,2',2", 2'",-1,2-ethanediyldinitrilo) tetrakis-[N,N-bis(2-methylpropyl)acetamide].
