ABSTRACT:
An improved process of transfer electrophotography employing a liquid developer is described. The depth of the developer on the surface of a an electrophotographic photosensitive member on which an electrostatic latent image to be developed is formed is controlled to a value in the range of 5-30 .mu. prior to transfer. The developer image is transferred to a copying material having an oil absorption coefficient greater than 50 seconds in such a way that the controlled depth of the developer on the photosensitive member is reduced to a value in the range of 2-15.mu.. After transfer, the photosensitive member is cleaned to reduce the depth of the remaining developer to a value no greater than 1.mu..
