A photoreceptor for electrophotography of the present invention includes a photosensitive layer provided on a conductive support, the photosensitive layer containing a bishydrazone compound represented by the following general formula (Ia): ##STR1## where: R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each represent a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group, a heterocyclic group, or an alkyl group which has 1 to 4 carbon atoms;
