ABSTRACT:
A novel organopolysiloxane compound is disclosed which is capable of being cured by crosslinking and exhibiting a liquid-crystalline phase even in a crosslinked condition. The organopolysiloxane has mesogenic groups bonded to the silicon atoms such as --CH.sub.2).sub.3 O--Pn--CO--O--Pn--CN; --CH.sub.2).sub.3 O--CH.sub.2).sub.3 O--Pn--CO--O--Pn--CN; --CH.sub.2).sub.3 O--Pn--CO--O--Pn--F; and --CH.sub.2).sub.3 O--Pn--CO--O--Pn--O--CH.sub.3, in which the symbol Pn denotes a 1,4-phenylene group, and hydrolyzable groups pertaining to the crosslinking reaction.
