ABSTRACT:
A printing paper comprises a paper substrate and a coating layer formed on at least one side of the substrate and formed from a coating composition comprising a white pigment and a water-soluble resin in an amount of from 4 to 10 g/m.sup.2. When the paper sheet is divided or split into a printing surface layer and a non-printing surface layer, a difference in shrinking rate along a cross direction between the printing surface layer and the non-printing surface layer is within a range of .+-.0.1%. The paper can suppress curling on printing.
