ABSTRACT:
A subscriber switch controller for use in a telephone system operating in time frames consisting of a plurality of time slots where the system includes a base switch connected to a plurality of multitime-slot buses for switching data between any of the time slots and includes a subscriber switch connected to a plurality of local subscriber lines and to a pair of the buses for connecting encoded data between the subscriber lines and specified time slots on the buses. The subscriber switch includes a pair of subscriber switch controllers for enabling the connections between the subscriber lines and the pair of buses, where each controller includes an interface responsive to control signals for connecting encoded data from the subscriber lines to specified time slots on one of the pair of buses and for connecting other encoded data from one of said pair of buses to specified ones of the subscriber lines, and a processor responsive to the time slot connection specified by the base switch for generating the control signals, thereby enabling the connections between the subscriber lines and the multitime-slot data buses.
