ABSTRACT:
A focus detecting system for detecting a focusing state is adaptable to various optical systems of different specifications. The focus detecting mode of the system changes according to the specifications of the associated optical system and the focus detection signal is normalized to compensate for changes in the brightness, contrast and pattern of the object being focussed. Additionally, the field of view may be varied in accordance with the selected optical system and the focus detection signal is normalized to compensate for changes in the brightness, contrast and pattern of the object being focussed.
