The cyclized squaraines essentially as represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently selected from alkyl and hydrogen; R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are independently selected from alkyl and benzyl; X is hydrogen, hydroxy, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen; and m is a number of from zero to about 3; and layered imaging members thereof.
