The invention provides poly(ethylene oxalate) containing recurring units represented by the following formula (1): ##STR1## in a proportion of at least 60 basal mol %, wherein (a) the solution viscosity (.eta..sub.inh) is at least 0.25 dl/g as measured at 30.degree.
