ABSTRACT:
Metal chelates of water soluble copolymers with polyvalent metal ions contain a statistical distribution of 1-86% by weight of structural units of the formula ##STR1## 9-80% by weight of units of the formula ##STR2## 5-90% by weight of units of the formula ##STR3## and up to 30% by weight of one or more units of the formulae ##STR4## wherein R.sup.1 is alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 and R.sup.5 independently of one another are each hydrogen or methyl;
