ABSTRACT:
Developing device (3A) for use in an electrophotographic image forming apparatus such as copy machine includes a developer material (31) having toner particles (37) and carrier particles (39) and a housing (5) for containing the developer material. The housing includes a developer bearing member (21) and a toner bearing member (9) to form a give-and-take region (23) through which the toner particles are transferred to and from the developer bearing member. A packing density in the give-and-take region is equal to or more than 29.5%. The packing density is defined by the following equation:
