A toner composition comprised of toner resins, colorants, optional surface additives, and a charge enhancing additive obtained from the reaction of an aluminum ion-containing compound with a molar equivalent of an aromatic carboxylic acid, and an excess of an N-alkyl or N-aryl-substituted bis(hydroxyalkyl)amine in an aqueous medium at a temperature ranging from about 25.degree. C. to about 100.degree. C.
