ABSTRACT:
A process is disclosed for the preparation of C.sub.5 and higher boiling hydrocarbons by contacting a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen over a supported cobalt catalyst in which the cobalt is distributed in a specified inhomogeneous manner on the support.
