ABSTRACT:
A process is disclosed for producing N-acetyl-aminoacid which comprises reacting a feedstock from the group consisting of simple olefins, acetamide and synthesis gas with a catalyst comprising a cobalt-containing compound promoted by a bidental-phosphine ligand in a solvent at a pressure of 500 psi or greater and a temperature of 50.degree. C. or greater. The presence of the ligand increases both reaction rate and cobalt catalyst stability.
