ABSTRACT:
An improved process for producing the hypoglycemic compound, methyl 2-tetradecylglycidate, by reacting methyl .alpha.-chloropalmitate with lithium methoxide in the presence of formaldehyde in a dipolar aprotic solvent such as DMF or DMSO.
