A substituted triazolylmethyl-oxirane of the formula ##STR1## in which R is optionally substituted alkyl, aryl or cycloalkyl is prepared by reacting a triazolyl-ketone of the formula ##STR2## with (a) dimethyloxosulphonium methylide of the formula ##STR3## or (b) trimethylsulphonium methylsulphate of the formula
