ABSTRACT:
An organic electroluminescent device of improved efficiency and operational stability has been disclosed. The device comprises of an anode and a cathode, and an organic electroluminescent element disposed between the anode and cathode. Characterized in the organic electroluminescent element is at least one fluorescent emitting layer containing a mixture of two or more materials. The mixture contains a quinacridone compound of the formula: ##STR1## where R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are independently alkyl, aryl, fused aryl or halogen; and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are independently alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, or substituted aryl; and n=0, 1, 2 or 3.
