ABSTRACT:
In this process of the invention a compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is a leaving group, is reacted with a compound of the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 is an ether protecting group, and, if desired a thus-obtained compound of the formula ##STR3## is converted in a known manner into d-.alpha.-tocopherol.
