ABSTRACT:
A process for preparing a zinc salt of a salicylic acid compound which comprises reacting a salicylic acid compound and/or an alkali metal salt thereof with a zinc compound, wherein the reaction is carried out in a mixture of water and an organic solvent, and wherein the organic solvent has a water solubility of not more than 0.1 g/100 g water at 25.degree. C. and in which the zinc salt has a solubility of not less than 10 g/100 g organic solvent at 25.degree. C. The process achieves improved workability in collection of the product and improved yield and purity of the product.
