ABSTRACT:
One or more precursors of acetylcholine such as dimethylaminoethanol in a dermatologically acceptable carrier is a topical treatment for aging skin and muscles. Preferred compositions also contain ascorbic acid or an ascorbic acid derivative, preferably a fatty acid ester of ascorbic acid such as ascorbyl palmitate. Optionally, other cofactors and agents affecting neurotransmitter synthesis such as vitamin B.sub.6, pantothenic acid, calcium pantothenate, zinc, and/or tyrosine are included in the formulation. Other antioxidants such as vitamin E acetate or sorbate, or tocotrienols may also be employed in the composition.
