5-isothiocyanato-2-methylquinolines, N-(2,2-dialkoxyethyl)-N'-(2-methylquinolin-5-yl)thioureas, 5-(2-mercaptoimidazol-1-yl)-2-methylquinolines, 5-(imidazol-1-yl)-2-methylquinolines, 5-(imidazol-1-yl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-2-methylquinolines and dialkoxy 2-[N-(5-(imidazol-1-yl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-2-methylquinolinyl)]methylenema lonates are described as intermediates for antimicrobial 6,7-dihydro-8-(imidazol-1-yl)-5-methyl-1-oxo-1H,5H-benzo[ij]quinolizine-2- carboxylic acids.
