ABSTRACT:
A method for treating cerebral ischemia conditions by administering to the afflicted patient an effective amount of a compound of formula (I) ##STR1## where p, m, R, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, E, X, Y and Z are as defined in the specification, e.g., (5.alpha.,7.alpha.,8.beta.)-(-) or (.+-.)-3,4-dichloro-N-methyl-N-[7-(1-pyrrolidinyl)-1-oxaspiro[4.5]dec-8-yl ]benzeneacetamide, or ##STR2## where R, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, X and Y are as defined in the specification, e.g., (-) or (.+-.)-trans-2-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-N-methyl-N-[2-(1-pyrrolidinyl)cyclohex yl]benzeneacetamide, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
