ABSTRACT:
.beta.-Nitroethanethiol is prepared by reacting a carboxylic acid ester of .beta.-nitroethananol with trisodium thiophosphate and hydrolyzing the reasulting thiophosphate ester to form .beta.-nitroethanethiol.
