ABSTRACT:
A novel ester compound which, when added to a liqud crystal composition, can raise its nematic phase-isotropic liquid phase transition point without raising its viscosity, and a liquid crystal composition containing the same are provided, which ester compound is expressed by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents a linear chain alkyl group of 1 to 10 C and ##STR2##
