ABSTRACT:
A string for a musical instrument comprises a thermoplastic aromatic polyetherketone and has a value of E/.rho..sup.2 which is not greater than 5.times.10.sup.3, where E is Young's modulus of the string material measured in N/m.sup.2 and .rho. is the density of the string material measured in kg/m.sup.3. Such a musical instrument string may have significantly lower internal damping than previously available strings, may show low inharmonicity, and may be unaffected by ambient humidity changes.
