ABSTRACT:
Disclosed is a method for producing silver halide grains containing tabular grains having a thickness of from 0.02 to 0.3 .mu.m and an aspect ratio (diameter/thickness) of from 2 to 50 at a proportion of from 75 to 100% of the total projected area of silver halide grains, which comprises at least nucleation, ripening and growing steps in a dispersion medium solution consisting of water and a dispersion medium, wherein gelatin having the following characteristics (a) occupies from 30 to 100 wt % of said dispersion medium used in said growing step:
