Cyclopropanecarboxylic acid esters of the formula ##STR1## in which X.sub.1 is fluorine, chlorine or bromine, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine or methyl, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, methyl, methoxy, nitro or dimethylamine, or together are methylenedioxy, and R.sub.5 is hydrogen or methyl, processes for producing them, and their use in controlling insect pests.
