ABSTRACT:
The present invention provides optically active compounds represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## liquid crystal compositions containing the compounds, and electro optical elements using the above compositions.
The compounds of the present invention are optically active compounds having characteristics suited for a ferroelectric liquid crystal composition, especially having enough spontaneous polarization to realize quick response.
