ABSTRACT:
A novel anti-serotonergic compound and the synthetic intermediates thereof are provided.
The compound and intermediates are pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridine compounds represented by the formula, ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents --OH, --OCH.sub.2 -Ph (where Ph is a phenyl group), ##STR2## or --O--CH.sub.2 --CH(OH)--CH.sub.2 --NH--CH(CH.sub.3).sub.2 ; and R.sup.2 is H or --COOR (wherein R is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl group).
Among the compounds of the above formula, a compound wherein R.sup.1 is --O--CH.sub.2 --CH(OH)--CH.sub.2 --NH--CH(CH.sub.3).sub.2 has anti-serotonergic activity and can be synthesized, for example, by way of compounds wherein R.sup.1 is OCH.sub.2 Ph and R.sup.2 is COOR, R.sup.1 is --OH and R.sup.2 is H, and R.sup.1 is ##STR3## and R.sup.2 is H, in order.
