ABSTRACT:
This disclosure describes a novel series of potent antibacterial agents designated alkylated-cis-BM123.gamma..sub.1 and alkylated-cis-MB123.gamma..sub.2 produced by a novel photolytic process whereby alkylated-trans-BM123.gamma..sub.1 and alkylated-trans-BM123.gamma..sub.2 are transformed to their corresponding cis-isomers. The new antibacterial agents are active against a variety of microorganisms and thus are useful in inhibiting the growth of such bacteria wherever they may be found.
