ABSTRACT:
A process for the preparation of N-brominated or N-chlorinated phenylmaleimide by reacting maleic anhydride and a brominated or chlorinated aniline compound at temperatures of from about 100.degree. C. to about 210.degree. C. in the presence of tin containing catalyst compound and optionally an inert solvent.
